Crescent House Sobering & Assessment Beds

Crescent House is not a medical facility and does not provide medical treatment.  As a harm reduction service we provide therapeutic interventions based ona focused scope of service.

1. 5 safe beds with regular checks as required.

2. Support Workers assess individual bio-psycho-social-spiritual status during intoxication.

3. An Island Health Nurse (MHSU Services) provides clinical assessment, education, and referrals.  Nurse hours are limite.

4. First aid.

5. Snacks and a shower.

6. Motivational interviewing.

Regular hours: 6:00 am - Midnight for walk-ins / self-referral

24 hours for Shelter, RCMP, ED, and PES recommendations.

Service Details

Geographic areas served: Nanaimo
Referral criteria: Shelters, RCMP, the Emergency Department, and Psychiatric Emergency Services may recommend an individual to Crescent House after calling first to find out if a bed is available. Recommendations can be made 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Between the hours of 6:00 am - Midnight, individuals may walk up to the house to seek access without a recommendation.
