Alzheimer Society British Columbia

The Alzheimer Society of B.C. is dedicated to helping families build the knowledge and skills to live with dementia. Through offices located around the province, such as the North and Central Vancouver Island Resource Centre, the Society provides education and support services for people living with dementia.

The Alzheimer Society's First Link Program works with physicians and health professionals to connect individuals with dementia and their families to support services as soon as possible after diagnosis.

Why refer? Many families have little knowledge about dementia and the changes it brings. Clients who are referred to the Alzheimer Society's First Link program access support services and learn coping strategies 10.5 months sooner than those who have to find the Alzheimer Society on their own (First Link client evaluation 2011)
